The Ministry of Health (MoH) convened the inaugural Pandemic Fund Coordination Committee meeting with World Health Organization (WHO Maldives), Maldives Red Crescent, Maldives Association of Agricultural Workers (MAAW), and UNICEF Maldives. The meeting focused on strengthening pandemic preparedness through enhanced surveillance, laboratory systems, workforce capacity, and a One Health approach to protect public health.

Seaport Division officers granted en-route clearance to 1,855 passengers and 881 crew members aboard MV Costa Deliziosa upon its arrival in Malé from Colombo Port, Sri Lanka. The clearance process was conducted to facilitate the vessel’s scheduled port call and ensure smooth entry procedures.

During the IAHWG on the Mandate Implementation Review, the Maldives called for reforms that are inclusive, practical and mindful of the capacities of smaller delegations. The Maldives also reaffirmed its commitment to improving mandate creation, implementation and review processes to strengthen the effectiveness of the United Nations.

At the 61st session of the Human Rights Council (#HRC61), the Maldives delivered a statement during the Interactive Dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on Torture, thanking her for presenting the new Charter of Rights of Victims and Survivors as a vital framework to strengthen accountability. The Maldives reaffirmed its commitment to preventing torture, highlighted ongoing national reforms, and called for stronger global action to eliminate torture and ill-treatment.
