Vice President reaffirms commitment to respecting projects initiated by any government

Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has assured that the current Government remains committed to respecting and continuing projects initiated by any government.He made this statement while inaugurating a new football field in AA. Ukulhas. Highlighting the significance of the newly opened football field as a symbol of progress, the Vice President affirmed the Government’s dedication to completing all pending projects.He emphasised that the youth are an integral part of the nation and pledged to treat their concerns with respect and urgency. Stressing that youth are the driving force that fuels the country’s advancement, he reiterated the Government’s commitment to recognising and appreciating youth as they are.As part of the inauguration ceremony, the Vice President cut the ribbon in front of the field’s stage and signed the ball used in an exhibition match to mark the occasion. The match featured a team of football legends, comprising former Maldives national team players, competing against a team of Ukulhas youth.The event was attended by Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Abdulla Rafiu, as well as Ukulhas Council President Shaukath Ibrahim. The Government aims to revitalise the spirit of football across the Maldives and advance the country’s development in the field of sports.

The High Commissioner of India to the Maldives Pays a Farewell Call on the President

The High Commissioner of the Republic of India to the Republic of the Maldives, His Excellency Munu Mahawar, paid a farewell call on President His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

During the meeting, the President expressed his appreciation for the High Commissioner’s efforts to strengthen relations between the two countries. He noted that the High Commissioner’s tenure coincided with a pivotal phase in Maldives-India relations, during which the friendship and bilateral cooperation between the nations experienced significant revitalisation.

The High Commissioner reaffirmed India’s support for the development of the Maldives and commended President Dr Muizzu’s leadership and collaborative approach. He noted that this approach had helped address shared challenges and further strengthened the ties between the two countries.

The President and the High Commissioner reflected on the President’s recent State Visit to India in October, during which the two nations agreed on A Vision for Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership. This agreement laid the groundwork for elevating the existing development partnership. Both sides highlighted the progress being made through India’s generous commitments and assistance in implementing economic reforms and improving social welfare in the Maldives.

The President and the High Commissioner expressed confidence in the ability of both countries to maintain the positive trajectory established and to ensure the timely completion of agreed initiatives. They also discussed the potential for expanding avenues of cooperation in the future.

The President extended his best wishes to the High Commissioner for his future endeavours and expressed his eagerness to continue advancing the development partnership with the incoming High Commissioner.
