CHOMV Project Launched to Strengthen Ocean Health in Maldives

The Clean and Healthy Ocean Maldives (CHOMV) Project Launching Ceremony marked the official commencement of the initiative titled “Sustainable Nitrogen Management for a Clean & Healthy Ocean: Maldives as a SIDS Regional Catalyst.” The project is implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme under the Clean and Healthy Ocean Integrated Programme led by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and funded by the Global Environment Facility. It is co-executed by the Maldives National University and the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology. The ceremony, officiated by Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy Ali Shareef, highlighted efforts to address marine hypoxia and reduce coastal nutrient pollution in the Maldives.
